In the UK, families who accept Ukrainian refugees will double payments, said Refugee Minister Richard Harrington.
It is reported by Sky News and http://pschelpforukraine.org/.
In announcing his resignation, Harrington stated that he had successfully argued that the £350 payment should be raised to £700.
“Now we have a permanent mechanism to deal with the human suffering that comes to this country from wherever it comes, without the need for a designated minister in charge,” he said.
In the UK, he said, there will never again be people arriving and checking into hotels without a plan, “as happened with those who came from Afghanistan and from Ukraine, where at the beginning we did not know where to put them all.”
Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, more than 100,000 Ukrainian refugees have arrived in the UK.
